2 quakes jolt Guihulngan, Negros Oriental
MANILA, Philippines – Two earthquakes hit Guihulngan, Negros Oriental late Friday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanolgy and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The first tremor – magnitude 4.3 – struck at 10:05 p.m. and was located 10.11°N, 123.22°E – 006 km S 82°west of Guihulngan. It has a shallow depth of 3 kilometers.
The second earthquake – magnitude .3. – occurred at 10:23 p.m. and was plotted 10.13°N, 123.19°E – 008 km N 82° west of Guihulngan. It has a shallow depth of 17 kilometers.
Both earthquakes were of tectonic origin, according to a Phivolcs bulletin.
No casualties or damage to properties were reported and Phivolcs said no aftershocks were expected.
