Ukay-ukay vendor shot in vigil wake

AN “ukay-ukay” vendor was shot and wounded by a man after they argued in a vigil wake in barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City.

Jose Bryan Daño, 31, was wounded in the back. His alleged assailant, Mervin Cabalhug, fled after the attack.

Police said Daño played tong-its when he attended a vigil wake in the neighborhood last Tuesday night.

Police said the men argued when Daño accused Cabalhug of looking at his cards and secretly telling his playmates what his cards were.

The two men argued until Cabalhug drew a gun and shot Daño, witnesses told police.

Police said they believed the assailant used a revolver in the shooting since there no empty shells found in the crime scene. The victim was brought by his neighbors to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
