Some 8,000 protesters expected to join SONA protest —police

MANILA, Philippines — The number of rallyists is expected to increase to about 8,000 for the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Benigno Aquino III.

A thousand protesters are already marching towards Ever Gotesco along Commonwealth Avenue, Philippine National Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said.

He said more than a thousand rallyists were also marching from Mendiola, Malanday, and Marikina.

Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent George Regis said they were expecting around 8,000 rallyists to take to the streets for the SONA.
