TWENTY computer units were donated by Cebu 6th District Rep. Gabriel Luis “Luigi” R. Quisumbing to elementary schools in Mandaue City last Oct. 4 at the office of the Department of Education (DepEd) Mandaue City Division.
“In my continuing advocacy to provide our children accessible and quality education, and also to improve the delivery of services in schools, I am donating these computers to the different elementary schools in Mandaue City with the hope to enhance the educational and technical skills not only of our students but also of our school staff,” Quisumbing said.
Quisumbing led the turnover of computers along with City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Virginia Zapanta and Dr. Vivian Ceniza, South Cebu District Supervisor.
The event was participated in by 27 principals of recipient schools.
These recipient schools are Mandaue City SPED Center, Umapad Elementary School (ES), Cesar M. Cabahug ES, Mayor AS Fortuna ES, Opao ES, Don Calixto C. Yongco, Sr. ES, Bakilid ES, Labogon ES, Cabancalan I ES, Maguikay ES, Mandaue City Central School, Tabok ES I, Tabok ES II, Basak ES, Ibabao-Estancia ES, Cubacob ES, Canduman ES, Paknaan ES, Leonard Wood ES.
Dr. Zapanta expressed her gratitude for the donation. “While it is advantageous for a school to have their own computer room for computer classes, but we will maximize what is available. It’s better to have a set of computer for the pupils in each school than nothing at all,” Zapanta said. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
