Abandoned house razed in Lapu fire
AN abandoned house was razed while another one was damaged in a fire incident in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
Investigators said an unattended light candle may have caused the fire.
The fire, which broke out past 3 a.m. yesterday, started at the house of Estella. It spread to the house of Amy Borbon.
Before the fire, Bacalso’s son AJ and his friends had a drinking session in the house in sitio Kagudoy. The group used a lighted candle since the power connection in the abandoned house had already been cut off.
FO2 Climaco Salisid, fire investigator, said it was possible that AJ and his friends left the house after the drinking session without putting out the candle.
Bacalso’s house was made of light materials. There were piles of cartons in the house which also caused the fire to spread quickly, sad Salisid. No one was reported injured in the incident.
