Vidal collars 2 karate golds

INTERNATIONAL Shotokan Karatedo-Federation-Cebu/Lapu-Lapu’s ace karateka Rafael Vidal is already showing potential in the juniors division after bagging two gold medals in the Buglasan Regional Karatedo tournament last weekend in Dumaguete.

Vidal, the son of Cebu coordinator and head trainer of ISKF-Cebu-Lapu-Lapu team Reynan Vidal, bagged the 8-9 years old kata crown and 8-9 years old kumite title. He also bagged a silver in the 12-13 years old kumite category.

Reynan said this is a good tune-up for his son since it boosts his son’s  confidence for the World Shoto Cup 2012 this Nov. 6 to 11 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Rafael is part of the lineup of team Philippines that will be competing against the USA, Canada, South Africra and 13 other countries from around the world. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
