Boysen crushes Durabend in OT
BOYSEN solidified its hold of the top of spot in the standings as it handed Durabend another overtime loss, 94-77, in the United Architects Basketball Club Third Corporate Cup last weekend at the Cebu Eastern College gym.
Just like their first encounter, it was a tightly-fought encounter with last year’s runners-up holding the lead for the first three periods.
However, Michael Cinco found his rhythm in the fourth period, which helped Boysen tie the game at 70-all at the end of regulation.
It was all Boysen in the overtime session as it cruised to its their fifth win in six games while dropping Durabend to an even 3-3 (win-loss).
Cinco had 35 points to lead Boysen while Richard Badayos and Mito Parba added 15 and 12, respectively. Former league MVP Elmer Laguna paced Durabend with 19 markers.
In other results, the reigning champions Unitec fought an uphill battle with their lack of players and paid the price as they were upset by Cebu Homes, 50-47. Unitec now totes a 4-2 record while Cebu Homes notched its second win in six games. Puyat Steel also logged a default win over Matimco./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
