1,000 participants compete in Pink October Run today

AROUND 1,000 runners mostly supporters of the Pink October Run and running buffs from Lapu-Lapu City will answer the 4 p.m. starting gun in today’s Pink October Run 2012 to be held at the Pueblo Verde Center in MEZ II in Basak, Lapu-Capu City.

Organized by the Eduardo J. Aboitiz Cancer Center (EJACC) and the Icanserve Foundation, the running event aims to spread awareness about breast cancer in Cebu. It is the highlight of the EJACC and Icanserve Foundation’s month-long celebration and campaign of October as the “Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

Kenneth Casquejo of Kinetic Running Concept will handle the technicalities of the running event which will have a 3-kilometer, 5k and 10k categories with exciting prizes going to the top three winners.

A forum regarding breast cancer awareness and prevention will also be given to the participating runners after the race. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
