4 killed in road accident in Ilagan
MANILA, Philippines – Four persons, including a pregnant woman and two children, were killed Wednesday evening when they were ran over by a speeding passenger jeepney in Ilagan, Isabela, police said Thursday.
Provincial Police Chief Senior Superintendent Franklin Mabanag said six people were walking along the right side of the national highway in Barangay (village) Manaring when the jeepney came around a curve and hit the victims around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Mabanag said victims Oliver Cabasal, 11; Linda Cabasal; the pregnant Rhea Salas 26; and her daughter Jonalyn, were rushed to the hospital, but were all declared dead on arrival.
Delia Dela Cruz, 33; and Mary Ann Alvarez, 37, on the other hand, sustained injuries.
The driver, identified as Claudio Lucas, 51, has been placed under police custody, Mabanag said.
