2-bus collision on East Avenue, QC snarls traffic

MANILA, Philippines – A collision between two buses on East Avenue in Quezon City left 23 people injured Tuesday morning.

According to Emma Loristo of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Metrobase, a Cem transit bus with plate number UYA-435 was hit in the back by a Nova transit bus with plate number TWR-949 around 10:48 am Tuesday.

The bus driver of the Nova bus was pinned to the driver seat due to the impact but was later extricated and brought to the East Avenue Medical Center.

FEATURED STORIES

Twenty-one of the injured persons were from the Nova bus while the remaining two were from the Cem bus, according to the MMDA.

The MMDA was still verifying reports that the Nova bus tried to overtake another vehicle before it slammed into the Cem bus.

The vehicles were cleared as of 12:20 noon after snarling traffic in the area. Matikas Santos
