Hodge is week’s best in PBA

CLIFF HODGE of Meralco is showing everyone that he was worth the fourth pick in the draft as he became the first rookie to be named as the Player of the Week for the period of Oct. 8 to 14 in the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup.

The 24-year old beat Rain or Shine’s Jeffrei Chan for the award as he averaged 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, three blocks and 1.5 steals in Meralco’s victories over Alaska and Brgy. Ginebra that propelled the Bolts to the second spot in the standings.

Hodge showed the rest of the league what he’s capable of in his first game in the pros as he unleashed 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a steal in a 102-110 loss to the reigning champions Talk ’N Text last week.

Hodge then notched 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, four blocks and two steals in a come-from-behind 95-88 win over Ginebra last Saturday, a performance that came on the heels of his 20-point, 11-rebound effort in a 93-86 win over Alaska Wednesday in Digos City. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
