MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City’s P12-billion budget for 2013 has been approved, most of which would be used for general and social services, particularly public infrastructure development and disaster risk reduction.
Mayor Herbert Bautista signed the city’s 2013 budget of amounting to more than P12 billion, some P940 million more than the P11.060 billion budget of the city for 2012.
Priority expenditure areas for next year include: the development of more public infrastructure; the implementation of socio-economic programs to address poverty; and investments in disaster risk reduction.
Socio-economic programs would include the provision of quality education, health care and decent homes specifically to informal settlers in areas classified as “danger zones.”
