Teenager electrocuted
A teenager’s refusal to heed a warning cost him his life on Saturday afternoon when he held on to a live wire in Quezon City.
Jester Quiambao, 17, a resident of Amaca Compound in Barangay Sauyo, was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors at Far Eastern University General Hospital due to massive burns after he was electrocuted.
A report from the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the incident happened at 1 p.m. on Saturday in an alley near Quiambao’s home on Maryland Street.
According to the report, Quiambao was walking in the alley with his neighbor
Robelyn Solandaguit when they came across a wire dangling from an electrical post.
Solandaguit warned the teenager against going near the wire but instead of listening, Quiambao grabbed it, apparently to prove it was harmless.
But as soon as he touched it, electricity surged through his body.
Concerned neighbors broke his hold on the wire and brought him to the hospital but their efforts to save him failed. Jeannette I. Andrade
