7 fishermen nabbed

Seven fishermen were arrested for alleged illegal fishing in the waters off Tuburan town, northern Cebu.

Giovani Dacumos, 40; Alcher Peras, 33; Rodel Inoc, 18; Dario Comabig, 40; Dominador Pojas, 33, Eddie Sumalinog, 47;and Elvis Arcebar, 40, were caught by Bantay Dagat members catching fish using a compressor machine, a violation of a municipal ordinance, said PO1 Matt Jullivi Roco of the Tuburan police.

Police said seized during the arrest were a motorized boat, a compressor machine, hose, spears, flashlights and goggles.

The fishermen were released around 11 a.m. yesterday after they paid a fine of P26,500./CORRESPONDENT JOY CHERRY S. QUITO
