Alta Vista GCC shines at home with two titles in Sta. Lucia Golf Tour
HOST Alta Vista Golf and Country Club used home course advantage to the hilt as it bagged two of the four group titles at stake in the Cebu leg of the Santa Lucia Golf Tour, which ended yesterday.
Alta Vista’s A-Team topped group 1 with a two-day total of 280 points edging Davao Eagle of Rancho Palos Verdes, which had the same final output in the countback.
The tie was broken based on the final round score of the fourth member of the team in this four-to-play, three-to-count format using the Molave Points System.
The champion team was composed of Dennis Canos, who fired rounds of 48 and 52, Antonio ‘Loloy’ Sabuga 46 and 47, Masahisa Kawakami 41 and 46, and Ed Acain 41 and 44.
The 44 of Acain in the second day allowed the team to win the title.
The Davao Eagle team was composed of Joel Yamyamin 48-52, Victoriano Gonzales 47-45, Tamio Sakurai 46-42, and Eduardo Wee 33-40.

Article continues after this advertisementThe team title for group 2 went to Team Galaxy of Eagle Ridge with 262 points. The team was composed of Antonio del Rosario 43-44, Ireneo Arbues 48-38, Angelito Sortijas 36-47, and Dante Felizarta 38-42.
First runner-up honors went to the Atik Boys of Alta Vista with 259 points. The team members were Hospicio ‘Razy’ Razon 46-42, Ahn Woo Chul 45-43, Edwin Espina 43-40, and Marlo Cugtas 41-39.
Third placer was D’ Crooked Stick of Summit Point with 258 points.
Alta Vista’s Team Super Gwapo topped group 3 with a total of 237 points. The team members were Gerry Quintos 39-43, Alan Larot 41-37, Nestor Mendoza 34-42, and Allan Lua 25-38.
First runner-up was Alta Vista’s Pretty Boys with 235 points followed by Eagle Masters of Palos Verdes with 231 points.
Team Echo of Royal Tagaytay topped group 4 with 212 points while Saturday Golfers of Beverly Place (204) and Pomelo Verde of Palos Verdes (202) finished second and third, respectively
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
Royal Tagaytay’s Jufil Sato led the individual winners with 106 points on rounds of 51 and 55 to top class A followed by Joel Yamyamin of Palos Verdes with 100 (48-52) winning it via the countback over second runner-up Dennis Canoy of Alta Vista also with 100 (48-52).
Yuki Matsuo of Summit Point topped class B with 102 points (47-55) while Alta Vista’s Benjie Hortelano ruled class C with 88 points (47 and 41).
Jose Escobar of Royal Tagaytay topped class D with 74 (36-38) followed by Sherwin Bahani of Palos Verdes with 71 (30-41) and Romel Valloyas of Eagle Ridge with 71 (32-39). /pr with Mars Alison
