MANILA, Philippines—After being scolded for his drinking binges with friends, a teenaged boy ended up killing himself inside the family home on Thursday in Quezon City.
The mother of Jeffrey Casilag, 17, discovered his body hanging from a wooden beam inside their house on Anakbayan Street, Barangay (village) Paltok early Thursday morning.
The boy used an electric cable in committing suicide, said case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Jaime Jimena.
Jimena learned that the night before, Casilag’s mother, Perla, had scolded her son for drinking too much with his buddies.
Police added that the victim had a girlfriend living with him, who happened to be back at her parents’ home when the alleged suicide happened.
