LP solon won’t back Aquino candidate
NAGA CITY—A Liberal Party (LP) congressman of the fifth district of Camarines Sur refused to throw his support to an LP candidate who would be running against two Villafuertes for the governor’s seat.
Rep. Salvio Fortuno said yesterday he would not support former Solicitor General Anselmo Joel Cadiz, who had decided to run for governor after withdrawing his candidacy in favor of lawyer Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, widow of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.
Fortuno said he had committed to support Nacionalista Party (NP) candidate Miguel Villafuerte, grandson of Rep. Luis R. Villafuerte Sr. who filed his certificate of candidacy also for governor.
Fortuno lamented Cadiz’s sudden decision to run for governor. Juan Escandor Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon
