More than 5,000 teachers have earned their grassroots badge while more than 33,000 football players from ages six to 12 coming from different parts of the country have been identified in the ongoing Kasibulan Grassroots Football Program of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).

This program which was halted due to lack of funding was relaunched last February and now have the support of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).

Kasibulan is being implemented with the help of the local government units and the Department of Education and had each PFF-appointed Grassroots Development Officer (GDO) through the provincial football associations (PFA) organizing a three-day workshop, wherein they ought to reach the target of C-60 and P-500. C-60 means being able to teach the program to 60 coaches per area under the PFA while P-500 means 500 participants for the Grassroots Course Festival (GCF), which will be held on the last day of the workshop. Every PFA was required to run six GCF through the GDO within six months.

Last week, the PFF conducted a four-day evaluation of the program attended by the GDOs at Pagcor Mactan here in Cebu and some areas of the program have been identified for further improvement. Aside from the GCF, it was agreed that the program must include league competitions for Under 11 and 13 boys and girls. CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
