COP JAILED FOR RAPE POSTS BAIL
A POLICE official accused of raping a 16-year-old girl walked free from jail after posting P500,000 bail.
Insp. Gerardo Fiel was released at 4 p.m. last Friday. His motion to post bail was granted by Regional Trial Court Judge Teresita Galanida.
Fiel, then deputy chief of the Subangdaku police station in Mandaue City, surrendered to the police on Oct. 4 last year after an arrest warrant was issued against him.
A girl accused the policeman of raping her inside a motel in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City last March 17, 2011.

MAN FOUND HANGING DEAD
A 24-YEAR-OLD man was found hanging dead from a mango tree in barangay Casili, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.
Police said there was no signs of foul play in the death of Jerson Sasing.
The man was found by his father Demetrio suspended from a branch with two sling bags tied together looped around his neck.
Demetrio told police that he last saw his son about to go to sleep in his room around 10 p.m. last Friday.
The father checked on his son around 1 a.m. yesterday but he was not in the room.
The father later found his son hanging from the tree.
The father told police that his son looked problematic when he arrived from Surigao a few days ago.
Jerson was a regular worker of a steel company in Surigao.
The father said he would check with the company if his son had problems in his workplace.

WORKER FALLS OFF BED, DIES
A 27-YEAR-OLD construction worker who may have fallen off the bed while sleeping was found dead inside a bunkhouse in barangay Basak, Mandaue City.
Police said Elmar Villaber was found with head injuries.
The injuries could have been a result of the fall, said PO2 Heracleo Gamboa of police station 3. Co-workers told police that Villaber was drunk when he went to sleep last Friday night.
The man was already unconscious when he was found by his co-workers on the floor early morning yesterday.
Villaber was declared dead when he was brought to the to Eversley Hospital./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
