Police blast open suspicious box on LRT 2

MANILA, Philippines – The explosion on the Light Rail Transport System 2 reported by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on its Tweeter Feed Saturday turned out to be not exactly what it seemed to be, Manila authorities said.

The explosion occurred when members of the Manila Police District bomb squad blasted open a “suspicious looking package” that was found on Recto station, according to Radyo Inquirer 990AM.
Following the blast, the package was found to have contained broken glass.

Earlier in the day, MMDA posted the explosion on its Twitter account but did not give details.

Basilio Arnaldo, LRT 2 duty officer, also told Radyo Inquirer 990 AM that the blast occurred at 1:59 p.m.

He added that canine units were dispatched to the area.
