3 from Ang Kapatiran Party join Senate derby
MANILA, Philippines – Three members from the Ang Kapatiran Party filed their certificates of candidacy at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Wednesday.
John Carlos de los Reyes, Marwin Llasos, and Lito David will run for the Senate, saying they want to bring back the dignity to politics.
“What is happening now is like a circus,” de los Reyes told reporters.
He assailed the major political parties for getting the most famous candidates and fielding them “like fighting cocks in a derby.”
“They are all form, but have no platform or principles,” he said.
De los Reyes said they will be pushing for four items should they win Senate seats. The breaking of political dynasties, the abolition of the pork barrel also known as priority development assistance fund, stricter gun control regulations, and the passage of the freedom of information bill.

They claimed that “alternative candidates” like them have a chance in winning because the public is outraged over the present government who passed the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
