Classes suspended in Quezon City due to heavy rains

/ 12:21 AM October 04, 2012

Classes were suspended from the kindergarten to high school levels in private and public schools in Quezon City due to heavy rains, which caused flooding in some areas.

The announcement, however, was made at 10 a.m., several hours after students were forced to brave the heavy downpour to go to their schools.   According to the Quezon City Police District Tactical Operations Center, the nonstop rains led to gutter-deep floods in some thoroughfares in Quezon City although these remained passable to all kinds of vehicles.

Only Calamba Street in Barangay (village) Sto. Domingo and Gumamela Street in Roxas District were flooded until noon Wednesday in knee-deep water and rendered impassable to light vehicles.—Jeannette I. Andrade
