He is accompanied by his wife, son, and father, Senator Edgardo Angara.
Representative Angara is running for Senator under the Liberal Party.
When asked about the controversial Cybercrime Prevention Act, he said that Congress can no longer deny that they passed the law and that it now has to own up to the responsibility.
He said they can still make changes to the law and denied that the provision on online libel “sneaked through” the bicameral session of both houses of congress.
He noted that even without the Cybercrime Prevention Act, one can already be punished for online libel with the current libel law.
When asked about political dynasties, he admitted they are one but pointed out that they already have a legacy of accomplishment in their region.
“I invite the public to look at the accomplishment we have done and compare us to other political dynasties,” he said.
“Dynasties per se are not bad,” but people should not vote for candidates just because of their last name, Angara added.
