/ 07:03 AM October 03, 2012

Ground and Pound MMA heavyweight champion Lorde Rey Yamit of the Mindanao United Mixed Martial Arts (MUMMA) takes on Edward Manteza in the main event of the Earn Your Stripes MMA and Stand-up competition to be held at the NCCC Kadayawan Hall in Davao on Oct. 27.

Yamit, who won over the heavily favored Cebuano Mark “Terminator” Araneta last July 14 in Cebu, is expected to face a tough foe in the younger and more active Manteza.

Yamit has to shed some weight to make the featherweight limit needed to fight Manteza. He is still 18 pounds heavier.

“I am almost making the 145lb limit because of my rigid training and cardio exercises in the gym,” said Yamit. “I am training stand-up and ground submissions because I heard this kid (Manteza) is a good fighter.”

FEATURED STORIES

Manteza is undefeated in seven fights but Yamit is being optimistic of his chances.

“I hope that I will win by TKO or referee stoppage and not by decision. I respect him a lot and I will show my respect to him by fighting my best so it’s going to be a war.”
