Tropical Storm ‘Marce’ to bring rains across PH—Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines—Parts of Luzon continued to experience rains as Tropical Storm “Marce” (international name Gaemi) entered the Philippine territory Tuesday night.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Cordillera Administrative Region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya will be cloudy with occasional moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Wednesday.

Although seen not to make landfall, Marce will enhance the southwest monsoon.

Marce was last seen 310 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales, packing  maximum winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

It was forecast to move southeast at 07 kph.

Meanwhile, Western and Central Visayas and Zamboanga peninsula and the rest of Luzon will have occasional light to moderate rains or thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to east will prevail over extreme Northern Luzon and coming from the southwest to south over Central and Southern Luzon.

The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest to west with slight to moderate seas, Pagasa said.

The National Risk Reduction and Management Council activated its red alert status as Marce entered the country, placing all its primary and support agencies on active/on-call duty.
