PDEA nabs alleged drug pusher in Davao City
MANILA, Philippines – An alleged drug pusher who has been under surveillance since 2009 finally fell to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a buy-bust operation in Davao City.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Jose S. Gutierrez, Jr. identified the suspect as Johnny Jul, 44. He and his wife are being sought by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Davao del Sur, Gutierrez said in a statement.
Jul had previously been arrested in 2002 for violating Section 11 or Unlawful Prescription of Prohibited Drugs of the Dangerous Drugs Act, but managed to go free after posting bail.
“Despite intensified efforts by authorities to pin down the suspect, Jul successfully eluded his pursuers the past three years. Finally, his luck ran out,” Gutierrez said.
Jul was arrested after a buy-bust operation on the National Highway in Barangay Lizada, Toril, Davao City. He was caught in the act of selling methamphetamine hydrochloride to an undercover PDEA agent.
