Secretary Abaya might take over LP leadership

MANILA, Philippines— Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC) secretary and Liberal Party secretary-general Joseph Emilio Abaya is likely to take over the party’s leadership as Secretary Mar Roxas assumed his new job in the Department of Interior and Local Government.

In an interview with Den Macaranas of “Good Morning Inquirer” on Radyo Inquirer 990AM, Abaya said, however, that final details of the resolution is still being discussed among its leaders.

He said that as per his meeting with Roxas, it was discussed that Secretary Butch Abad will be in charge of policies and coordination with the President, while he will be in charge of day-to-day campaign concerns of the party for the 2013 midterm elections.

Roxas left the party last weekend when he formally assumed his position as head of DILG.
