Today, October 2, is the 149th birth anniversary of Rafael Crame, the first Filipino to lead the country’s police force, then known as the Philippine Constabulary. Born in Malabon in 1863, he died on Jan. 1, 1927. Camp Crame, the headquarters of the Philippine National Police, was named after him.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
