Barangay councilor nabbed for drugs

A barangay councilor and four men were arrested in separate illegal drug buy-bust operations in southern areas in Cebu last Saturday.

In Samboan town, police arrested Poblacion barangay councilor Jaime Fetiluna for allegedly selling a small sachet containing suspected shabu to a policeman who acted as a poseur buyer.

Police seized one small and a large pack of suspected shabu worth P30,000 from Fetiluna’s possession.

Fetiluna, who did not resist arrest, is detained in the detention cell of the Minglanilla police precinct.

Police said Fetiluna admitted that he had been engaged in selling illegal drugs for about three  months.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) arrested Joveno Rendal, 49; his younger brother Arnilio, 45; Joveno’s brother-in-law Dennis Cantiveros, 41; Mario Bunghanoy, 35; in a separate illegal drug operation in San Fernando town.

Joveno and Dennis were arrested after they allegedly sold a medium sachet of suspected shabu to a PDEA-7 operative who acted as a poseur buyer.

The sale transaction happened inside the house of Joveno in sitio Tabuan, barangay North Poblacion at past 12 noon last Saturday.

In a phone interview, PDEA-7 regional director Jigger Montallana said Joven’s house which has an underground tunnel was believed to be a drug den.

PDEA-7 personnel also seized one small sachet of suspected shabu after frisking Arnilio and Bunghanoy.

PDEA-7 personnel recovered 11 large packs, 10 medium packs , and two sachets of suspected shabu, and pieces of drug paraphernalia from the suspects.

PDEA-7 said the seized illegal drugs weigh around 60 grams with an estimated street value of P400,000.
