Mandaue off to hot start in Gov. Garcia volleyball
THE reigning champions Mandaue City wasted no time in asserting themselves for yet another run at the crown yesterday after they downed Compostela in straight sets in the Gwen Open Women’s division of the 8th Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City.
With a star-studded lineup that boasts of the likes of former RP team members Genie Sabas and Jusabelle Brillo along with ace setter Kennete Garces, Compostela proved to be no match as Mandaue eased their way to an easy, 25-8, 25-23 win. Mandaue is seeking its third straight crown after defeating Talisay City last year for the title.
In the opening game of the Gwen Kids 12-under, Carcar bested Minglanilla, 26-24, 25-20.
