The 2.8-magnitude earthquake centered at 13 kilometers northeast of Masbate City at a shallow depth of eight kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in the capital city, Phivolcs said.
Earlier Thursday, a 5.2 magnitude tremor struck off Quezon province at 11:47 a.m.
The quake centered at 74 kilometers northeast of Jomalig town at a shallow depth of six kilometers.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the two earthquakes.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
