BOYSEN EXACTED revenge upon its semifinals tormentors of last year as it defeated Durabend, 106-95, in overtime in the 2012 United Architects Basketball Club 3rd Corporate Cup last Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College gym.
Boysen was ousted by Durabend for the last ticket to the finals last year. With that in mind, Boysen played with vengeance on its mind and led for most of the way until Durabend caught up in the waning moments of regulation.
A basket by Jay Radomes put Durabend on top, 75-74, with under a minute remaining. Durabend still had possession but an inbound blunder resulted in a steal by Richard Badayos and a basket that gave Boysen a slim 76-75 lead with 5.4 ticks remaining.
Durabend was able to get the ball to Phillip Lim, who was fouled with 0.3 of a second left. He made the first but missed the second to send the game to overtime.
There, Durabend scored the first four points but struggled the rest of the way, paving the way to the win for Boysen.
Michael Cinco led the way with 34 points while Badayos added 16. Jun Villacorta also had 13 markers.
Durabend was led by the 26 of Elmer Laguna. Boysen improved to 2-1 (win-loss) while Durabend fell to 1-2.
In other games, defending champions Unitec pushed its record to a clean 3-0 after defeating Cebu Homes, 91-84, while Puyat Steel notched its second win in three games by beating Matimco, 76-64./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
