After overseeing the upgrade of the country’s railway systems and patrol ships, and fixing relations with China, Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II will soon be dealing with cops, robbers and illegal gamblers.
If everything is ironed out, Roxas said he’d take over the post of the late Secretary Jesse Robredo at the Department of Interior and Local Government possibly on Oct. 1.
“Oct. 1 is a Monday, and that seems to be an auspicious day. There will be a flag-raising ceremony. Let’s see when; everything depends on the schedule of the President,” Roxas told reporters in a Malacañang briefing.
Since he has yet to assume his post, and assess the status of programs and projects at the DILG, Roxas declined to disclose his plans. But he admitted it would be an entirely different ball game.
