MANILA, Philippines–Supreme Court Employees Association president Jojo Guererro said Tuesday that the public should not put so much attention in the attendance of Supreme Court associate justices during flag-raising ceremonies, but rather on the decisions that will be made by the High Court in the future.
“Panawagan ko sa taong bayan, siguro maging mahinahon sila at wag masyadong pansinin yang maliliit na bagay na yan,” Guerrero said in an interview with John Susi of “Susi ng mga Balita” on Radio Inquirer 990AM, with optimism that things will fall into place soon.
Only six out of 14 associate justices attended the first flag raising ceremony led by newly appointed Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, apparently suggesting an alleged “snub.” Four flag raising ceremonies have passed, but the attendance is going down further.
“Syempre may napupuna tayo pero wag sana magtuloy-tuloy kasi kaming empleyado ayaw namin ng ganyang konting tampuhan,” Guerrero said, adding they would have come in between the parties to help resolve the issue if they only could.
“Ang serbisyo publiko, hindi naman siguro nakikita sa ganyan,” Guerrero said.
