CCPO REVAMP

The Cebu City Police Office is implementing a major revamp affecting at least 7 police stations and three special units.

Senior Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe, Cebu City police chief, said the revamp was for career enhancement of the police officers and to improve the operational system of the organization.

The Special units include the  City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group now headed by Insp. Reynaldo Valmoria replacing Chief Insp. Renero Agustin, who’s now the Punta Princesa police chief.

DANAO ROBBERY

A  21-year-old man was shot and wounded by a robbery suspect past 4 p.m. in barangay Cogon-Cruz last Sunday.

Ricarson Roble was shot in the leg by  Ricky Prieto, 31, a habal-habal driver, of sitio Timobo, barangay Cabungahan.

Investigation showed that Prieto was earlier identified as the man who robbed Cebu Pacific Pawnshop in Duterte Street at 1 p.m. He fled on a motorcycle with P10,000 he took from the two pawnshop tellers.

Police pursued him and caught up with him at Cabungahan. Prieto left his motorcycle and ran when he saw the policemen. Roble, who was nearby, was surprised with the commotion and ran.  Prieto thought that Roble was a policeman and shot him.

POISONED

At least six people were rushed to the hospital after suffering from food poisoning caused by the mushroom-looking plant they cooked and ate in sitio Toril, barangay Tingub, Mandaue City last Sunday.

Margie Basalo, 23; Leonides Durano,28; their two-year-old son; Margie’s brother, Josejun, 25; and their neighbor Benjie Monte were brought to the Mandaue District Hospital for treatment.

Margie, Josejun and the child were discharged at 10 p.m. last Sunday night but Monte and Durano remained confined at the hospital.

The victims said that Monte picked the mushroom like plant at a mini-dumping site near their house. They had the plant chopped and fried.

Those who ate the cooked plant later vomitted and got weak./Correspondents Fe Marie Dumaboc

CAUGHT STEALING

A man and two teenagers, who are minors, were caught by barangay tanods stealing biscuits and cash from the Tabunok Elementary School in barangay Tabunok, Talisay City yesterday.
