Maynilad cuts off water supply at MPD HQ

/ 11:21 PM September 24, 2012

The water supply at the Manila Police District (MPD) headquarters in Ermita, Manila, has been disconnected for the second time after it failed to settle a debt of more than P5 million to Maynilad Water Services.

MPD deputy director for operations Senior Superintendent Robert Po, however, explained that the unpaid amount represented uncollected payments dating back to 2005.

He said that the MPD was up to date in its monthly payments.

Last year, Maynilad cut off the water supply to the police headquarters after the MPD’s unpaid bills totaled more than P14 million, prompting the National Capital Region Police Office, which is in charge of the police budget, to pay a portion of the amount.

Last Friday, the water supply service was disrupted after the MPD failed to settle its remaining debt of P5.7 million despite its receipt of a demand letter from Maynilad.  Erika Sauler
