MANILA, Philippines—The water service at the Manila Police District headquarters in Ermita, Manila, was disconnected for the second time for failure to settle more than P5-million debt to Maynilad.

MPD Deputy District Director Robert Po said the headquarters’ monthly payment is updated and Maynilad was collecting the debt that was incurred in 2005. He said the National Capital Region Police Office is in charge of the police budget.

When the water service was cut last year, the police paid 30 percent of the obligations.

Maynilad cut the service again on Friday after it sent a demand letter for the balance of P5.7 million in August.

Chief Inspector Bernardino Cubacub, acting chief of the logistics division, was on his way to the NCRPO on Monday to settle the issue.
