4 die after van hits motorcycle in Capiz
MANILA, Philippines—Four people were killed, including a two-month old baby, after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a van in Capiz Thursday afternoon, police said Friday.
Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said the incident occurred along the National Highway of Sitio Libas in Barangay (village) San Esteban in Pilar Capiz around 4 p.m. Thursday.
Capiz Chief of Police Senior Superintendent Domingo Cabilan said the black XMR single motorcycle (2088FR) driven by Ruby Villa,27, was parked in the area with his three passengers on board when the L300 van (FVS 258) hit them while trying to avoid a truck that was also parked along the highway.
“Paakyat kasi ‘yong daan,” he said, noting that van driver Rafil Dador,27, was allegedly drunk during the accident.
“Hindi normal ‘yong reflexes niya kaya di niya kinaya ‘yong pag-iwas doon sa truck,” Cabilan said.
Cabilan said Ruby’s wife Ronilyn, 27, their baby Robelyn, and his mother-in-law Nely Baclas,44, died on the spot, while Ruby was rushed to a hospital in Roxas City but also died while undergoing treatment.
