Cebuano netters Pages, Pantino up Philta points

CEBUANO netters Jana Marie Pages and Arthur Craig “Igi” Diaz Pantino made considerable additions to their Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) points in the 14-under category after posting credible results in the recent Malaysian legs of the Asian 14/U Series which was sanctioned by the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF).

Pages and Pantino just arrived from the 8th Asian 14/U Series Tennis Championship 2012 in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia from Sept. 5 to 9, and the 3rd Sabah Asian 14/U Series Tennis Championship 2012 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia from Sept. 12 to 16.

In Kuching, Pages finished 9th out of 18 players earning her 50 ATF points equivalent to 250 Philta points after a 3-1 win-loss record.

In Kota Kinabalu, Pages finished 10th among 24 participants after posting the same win-loss card. She earned 45 ATF points in the singles competition and 15 points in the doubles after she and her partner Khim Iglupas, also of the Philippines, reached the quarterfinal round.

Pages accumulated a total of 550 Philta points after she finished with 300 points in the Kota Kinabalu meet. These Philta points will be added by the end of the year to determine their rankings in the country’s 14-under category.

Pantino, on the other hand, finished 19th out of 32 in Kuching with his win-loss record of 3-2. He tallied 13 ATF points equivalent to 65 Philta points. In Kota Kinabalu, Pantino clinched 350 points after amassing 70 ATF points by finishing 8th out of 32 players.

Aside from the Philippines, other players came from Chennai, Shanghai, Penang, Jakarta, Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
