Woman battling diabetes, blindness needs help
Arianne Joy Lee has been battling diabetes—the disease which robbed her of her father 11 years ago—for almost 12 years.
“She was diagnosed with diabetes when she was just 15 years old. The next thing I knew, she could no longer see and walk on her own,” her mother, Agnes Lee, said of her 27-year-old daughter.
The vendor of native cakes from Tondo, Manila, said that although the disease is quite common on her husband’s side of the family, she does not want her daughter to die of the ailment.
“It’s painful to realize that my daughter is suffering from the same sickness that took my husband. I can’t bear to lose her,” she said.
Arianne Joy undergoes dialysis at Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center in Tondo, Manila, twice a week at P1,500 per session.
Afterward, she needs to be injected with Epokine which costs P1,700. Those who want to help her can call 0928-3572636.
