Binga, Magat dams keep gates open to release excess water

MANILA, Philippines — Two dams in Luzon continued to keep their gates open to let out excess water from rains brought by typhoon “Karen” and the southwest monsoon, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

Binga Dam in Benguet has kept one gate open at 0.7cubic meters as of 6 a.m., said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Its water level was at 574.48 meters, close to its spilling level of 575.00 meters.

Meanwhile, Magat Dam in Isabela has kept one gate open at two cubic meters. Its water level was 193.00 meters, exceeding its 190.00 meters spilling level.
