A new weather disturbance was spotted Monday afternoon near Batanes just as two low pressure areas (LPAs) detected Sunday night and early Monday morning virtually dissipated, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

But weather forecaster Fernando Cada said the new LPA sighted some 1,000 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes, could likewise dissipate by early Tuesday morning.

He told the Philippine Daily Inquirer they spotted another LPA somewhere in the East Philippine Sea which could enter the Philippine area of responsibility and move northeast of northern Luzon if it does not dissipate. But he said this was still too far to have any effect on the country.

Cada added that rainfall in the National Capital Region was anticipated to abate and the weather to gradually improve by Wednesday after the habagat (southwest monsoon) enhanced by Typhoon “Karen” (international name Sanba) weakened anew.
