A motorist wants a Skyway patrol operative stripped of his license as a security guard months after the latter was found guilty of harassing him in a traffic altercation in 2004 and yet was able to keep his job.
Edwin Almeda, a consultant for real estate firm Almeda Inc., has asked the Philippine National Police-Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (PNP-Sosia) to permanently revoke the license of Rolando Altamia, a security guard deputized as a traffic enforcer on Southern Luzon Expressway.
On April 10, Altamia was found guilty of unjust vexation by the Parañaque Metropolitan Trial Court for “arrogantly” apprehending Almeda for not wearing a seatbelt on SLEx in April 2004.
Altamia purportedly even called the motorist “loko-loko (crazy).”
More than eight years later, Almeda still refused to forget about the incident, pointing out in his complaint that security guard applicants “having a previous record of conviction of any crime” should be disqualified from having a license.
“Considering his arrogant and overbearing attitude towards motorists, should Altamia be allowed to serve as Skyway patrol operative?” Almeda said. Jaymee T. Gamil
