Road contractor’s equipment burned in Tarlac

TARLAC CITY, Philippines—A group of men burned equipment belonging to a contractor building a road in Santa Ignacia town in Tarlac on Wednesday night, a local official said.

Santa Ignacia Mayor Saklulu Enrado said the equipment—a compact vibrator, a backhoe and a grader—were owned by the Northern Builders Inc., which is building a farm-to-market road in Barangay (village) Sta. Ines.

Enrado, however, could not give other details of the incident, which happened around 9 p.m. at the firm’s project site in Sitio (subvillage) Maligaya.

The Inquirer reached police officials in Santa Ignacia and at the provincial police headquarters in Camp Macabulos here on Thursday but they declined to give details of the incident while investigation is ongoing.

Northern Builders is also one of the contractors of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEx).
