WITH the brand new season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) looming on the horizon, three powerhouse squads will be trooping to Cebu to battle the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Ninos in the M. Lhuillier Mayor Mike Rama Mayor’s Cup on Sept. 21-23 at the Cebu Coliseum.

James Yap and the rest of San Mig Coffee, formerly the BMEG Derby Ace Llamados, heads the cast along with the Alaska Aces, who now boast of newly-acquired backcourt composed of JVee Casio and Cebuano, Dondon Hontiveros. Completing the troika will be the mighty Talk N Text Tropang Texters

The teams are coming over in the hopes of tuning themselves up in time for the All Filipino Cup which begins on Sept. 30.

Ninos head coach, Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba said that they are planning to tap several players to bolster their lineup and give the professional squads a run for their money. Among the players being eyed by Alcoseba are “The Rock” Asi Taulava, Al Vergara, former San Beda star, Mar Villahermosa and American import, Davon Sullivan. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
