Blue ends Red’s streak in MCWD hoops

THE Blue team stopped the six-game streak of league-leader Red, 90-84 last Saturday at the end of the quarter-final round of the Metro Cebu Water District (MCWD) Sportsfest-2012 basketball tournament at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym.

Blue led by only a point at the half, 39-38 but widened its lead in the 3rd quarter with a blistering 27-18 run and was never threatened the rest of the way.

Marin Marata and Bert Handayan led Blue’s offense with 29 and 15 points, respectively, while Gle Gako paced Red (6-1) with a game-high 34 points.

Earlier, Orange (5-2) drubbed Black, 96-80 with Army Marata scattering a game-high 28 points while Erik Abatayo and Cris Ralota paced Black (3-5) with 20 and 15 markers, respectively. /Correspondent Dale Rosal
