Dengue cases in Iloilo City up by 597 per cent – health expert
MANILA, Philippines – Dengue cases in Iloilo City went up by 597 per cent in the first eight months of the year compared to the same period in 2011, a health expert from the city noted Wednesday.
In a report over Radyo Inquirer 990, Allan Sy, health executive assistant of Iloilo City, was quoted as saying that from January to August this year a total of 1,784 cases were reported up from 262 during the same year in 2011.
The report added that of the more than 1000 dengue cases in the city this year, 12 were death cases.
It said that the Iloilo City Health Office was now conducting a massive anti-dengue prevention campaign to counter the harmful effects of the disease.
