HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT RAPED

A 16-YEAR-OLD high school student was allegedly raped by her brother-in-law in barangay Poblacion 1, Carcar City, southern Cebu.

The girl (name withheld) was accompanied by her teacher when she reported the abuse to the Carcar City police.

Police arrested the brother-in-law last Friday night.

According to the girl, the suspect started raping her since June but did not report the abuse because the man threatened to kill her, said PO1 Jovi Egdamin.

Police said the teacher talked to the girl after noticing her unusual behavior. It was there that the girl confided to the teacher about the abuse./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

A 59-YEAR-OLD man was arrested at home for his alleged involvement in illegal gambling in barangay Upper Tabok, Mandaue City.

Edgar Flores denied the accusation against him.

Police said Flores was involved in an illegal numbers game whose results are based on the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s Swertres game.
