The House of Representatives apparently believes that young Filipino students need constant reminding that honesty is the best policy.
The House has adopted a resolution urging the Department of Education to post signs reading “Honesty is the Best Policy” in all elementary and high school classrooms in the country.
The resolution was principally authored by Davao Oriental Representative Thelma Almario. But the lawmakers present at Wednesday’s session were all made its coauthors.
The resolution said the posting of the honesty signs would be a constant reminder to the students of an important lesson.
“‘Honesty is the best policy’ is an adage which should be inculcated in the minds of the youth that they can carry through their adult life,” it said.
It noted that this call for constant honesty was also the “battle cry” of the Aquino administration.
According to the resolution, “The signs will serve as an effective medium to promote good manners and right conduct and will greatly benefit the overall personality of the students to become conscientious and upright citizens.” Leila B. Salaverria
