NBI rescues 4 Taiwanese abducted by compatriots

Hours after they were abducted from their house in Makati City on Wednesday morning, four Taiwanese nationals were rescued by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents from a hotel on Quirino Avenue in Manila.

Two of the victims were found chained to the bed in a hotel room.

The eight kidnappers, who turned out to be Taiwanese as well, were arrested while they were guarding their captives. Nabbed along with them was a Filipino woman identified as Catherine Genettia Taruc, 28, a native of San Miguel, Bulacan.

Arrested were Hung-Chang Lai, Ting Chien-Lai, Lin Cheng Cho, Cheng-Hao-Hung, Jyun-Kai Zeng, Hung Chuan Chan, Wei Ming Lio and Yan Pen Yang.
